I've decided I'm past due to create a place where I can express myself about the current state of affairs we have in this Nation.
This has been prompted by a photograph of two elderly women wearing these Nobama T-Shirts, with the sub-title "Have you had enough?
I feel very strongly about the lack effort by people trying to defend and explain this administration...which for me has been the first sane President since Jimmy Carter, or maybe going all the way back to JFK.
I guess I would say it reminds of the time I got on a bus in Dorchester, a neighborhood in Boston where I was living at the time, and this group of young men wielding a very loud boom-box got on and set themselves up in front of this very elderly women. They turned the volume up more, stuck it in her face and then scanned the bus for people who might be in disagreement with their actions. To my horror people looked away, and no one lifted a finger to help out. So to make a long story short, I took on all five of them, and put myself into a heap of trouble.So before going any further, I need to make it clear that, No I'm not someone who would seek out ways of getting into fist fights!! I was just following that voice inside me that was screamimg out, that this was SO WRONG what these punks were doing to this poor old lady! I was compelled to take action.
I'm feeling very compelled once again, to take some action. For me, just seeing people wearing a T-shirt like that is enough!!! It's time to speak out.
So that's my little prologue...now where to begin?
Let's look at the statement on the T-Shirts....especially the sub-title "Have you had enough"?
Have I had enough of this incredible administration, that has in 18 months pushed through the first attempt to reform health-care in America, to finally create some consumer protections from Wall
St.? That's just for starters. Do you know how long we have needed over the counter derivatives to be regulated? Are our citizens so ill informed that they'll line up behind Sarah Palin when she talks about the Health care reforms creating "Death Panels" and calling it "A Government takeover of Health Care"?
Then there's all of this whining about how Obamas spending our country into the ground. I would love to hear from one person who's been negatively treated or effected by this spending? I mean what skin is it off your ass whether this spending continues unabated or not? There is a very big mess that was created by good 'ol George W., and it's going to take time and money to undo it. And I mean way more then 18 months is needed to turn things around.
But more important then any of this, is the question why would you or anyone else think that voting the Republicans back into office is a good idea? They just had control of of the country for 8 long years...I mean is it me? Why is not so very crystal clear to people that the Republicans serve Wall St. first and foremost. And that statistically the middle class has never prospered under Republican rule...they are the ones who give out the corporate tax breaks to the top 3% leaving the middle class to fend for themselves. It has never created more jobs giving tax breaks to the very wealthy...but this still continues to be their mantra... I think they must believe that if you just keep yelling the same thing over and over again...that it will somehow become true??
